Romney's Endorsement
Many of you probably just watched the endorsement of McCain by Romney. I loved a couple of parts. First, when they said they still have differences on the issues and second, where they are coming together for the sake of the country. I also liked how McCain said Romney's role of leadership would be more so in the future
) HOPE HOPE HOPE. I still think what we are trying to do on this site is completely viable and important. Continuing to get votes for Romney will continue to earn delegates for him (even if at the convention they do vote for McCain) This will still send the message to McCain and the GOP, we want Romney for VP! !

I
I think Governor Mitt Romney should become Senator John McCain’s Vice President for the following reasons:
1. Mitt scored close second place finishes in many states where Senator McCain or Governor Huckabee won.
2. Mitt Romney currently has the second highest delegate count behind Senator John McCain.
3. Mitt Romney is releasing his delegates to Senator McCain to allow him to surge to the nomination.
4. Mitt Romney has done well among evangelicals in the West and other conservatives generally.
5. The Conservative Political Action Committee gave Romney the victory in both of their straw polls.
6. Mitt Romney has demonstrated his ability to turn businesses around through a significant understanding of the economy
7. Mitt Romney has all of the major conservative media strongly in his corner
8. Mitt Romney is well known for innovation and team work in his business ventures and government.
9. Mitt Romney does have an international coalition building and national security background through working with those nations who competed in the Salt Lake Olympic Games during the 9/11 terrorist attacks
10. Mitt Romney has had one of the largest support organizations in the Republican field that can lend itself to Senator McCain’s political assets in a run for the presidency.
11. Mitt Romney is a well known governor who erased a multi-billion dollar debt and gave Massachusetts a billion dollar surplus.
12. Senator McCain is absolutely in desperate need of the conservative bloc of the Republican party to win against the Democrats in November. Mitt Romney by several news accounts is “the face of conservatism in America.” Both of them can build a coalition that is more than strong enough to win against the Democrats in November.
13. Governor Romney would act as the conservative advocate in the office of Vice President in representing our perspectives on every choice facing the president.
14. Becoming the Vice President under a Senator McCain’s presidency would position Mitt Romney well for a run in 2012 and/or 2016. He would no longer need to spend so much of his own money to market himself to those who don’t know him or what he stands for.
These areas of experience provide far more benefit to a McCain candidacy than any other prospective Vice Presidential candidate could provide. There is nobody who would bring more conservative representation to a Senator McCain’s candidacy for president then Governor Mitt Romney. Out of all of the Governors, Senators, Representatives (past or present), nobody even comes close to what Governor Mitt Romney can offer.
We already know that Mitt is a team player because if he were not one, he would not have stepped down and joined in with Senator McCain at this critical time in the race for the presidency. This endorsement is the most important event to happen in the Republican party since the California primary. Where Senator McCain falls short, Governor Romney has strengths.

This is the most uplifting idea I have heard recently. I was feeling very depressed about voting for McCain -- I was even considering abstaining from voting for president this year. But the thought of voting for a McCain/Romney ticket has revived my excitement about the election!

Could not agree with you more!!! Since McCain has stated publicly he is seeking only one term, Gov Romney is poised to take the mantle in 2012. Then [hopefully] my "dream ticket" will materialize...Romney/[Condolesa] Rice in 2012!"

Frank, I agree 100% Can you imagine getting Romney in the White House for 12 years? Romney-Rice is my ideal too

Furthermore, Mitt can help McCain in the area where Hillary/Obama will masacre him -- economics. [Don't ya just love the video footage of McCain stumbling for an answer on an "economic" question during one of those debates?!!?"] Anyway, Huckabee cannot hold a candle [nor ecomonic resume] compared to Mitt. McCain's only logical choice!
IF [and big "if"] he is sincere about bringing the party together in November -- or we will undoubtedly loose.

David,
All I can say is... WOW! Would you like to write for the site? Thank you so much for your comments!

I would love to write for this site. In other comments I have posted on your site, I recommend that we need to put together a clear strategy using what I learned in my MBA program as change management:
1. Establish a vision we can all agree with with ownership to all GOP members who participate
2. Get political buy in from the different segments of our party
3. Establish Benchmarks (goals based on case studies) perhaps along the lines of how Mitt ran his candidacy (we still need to follow the leader).
4. Celebrate our victories no matter how small (based on benchmark fulfillment)
We need to build a sufficiently strong coalition by the GOP convention that keeps pace with the media cycles to keep Mitt Romney's name continually circulating in the public mind. It may be like running our own campaign perhaps as a political action commiittee. Who knows where we can take this? But, we have got to get a plan together ASAP to keep our hopes alive. While the media is still all over the announcement of Romney's endorsement of McCain, we need to get ready to prepare something for a press release for the next media cycle.
We need each other to win this. As many people as possible need to contribute. We need to have ownership in our collective vision so we can all say this is what we unitedly stand for together. It is like "pledging our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor to each other for conservative principles. So, I ask everyone, please help us create a vision today.

David,
I agree whole heartedly with everything you said about why Romney should be the Vice Presidential nominee.
You are absolutely right about WHY McCain should pick him. I wish I had more faith that he will.

So, CPAC still supports Mitt and so do I. CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) had a straw poll vote today for the candidate they support for President. Even after suspending his candidacy Mitt Romney was the winner. McCain came in second and Huckabee and Ron Paul were tied for a distant third.
There is not a chance that Mitt is going to reinstate his bid, and I don't think anyone could organize an effective write-in campaign that is such a popular idea online, so what are we to do? I have an idea...
Those of us that are conservative and support Mitt Romney need to bombard the McCain campaign with requests for Mitt to be VP. It's the answer that makes sense to all involved. It would help McCain bridge the gap between him and conservatives. The only group that would be upset are the evangelicals, however they will eventually get on board because they will not vote for a candidate that is pro-abortion.
The McCain camp would also benefit by having Mitt for VP because he could be a VP with a real job. It would be an amazing opportunity for McCain to assign Mitt to go to work on the structure and effectiveness, or rather the ineffectiveness of the US Government. Mitt could work to save the nearly trillion dollars that are wasted each year due to govenment waste. Another area that Mitt could tackle would be popular with liberals and conservatives alike. Mitt could be tasked with working on renewable energy efforts and making them an economically feasible option. Mitt has the business and economic experience that is sorely needed at this time in our history.

While bombarding McCain's campaign with requests might be a good idea, we probably should consider the prospects of alienating the other candidates who have signed on with him. Perhaps, our best chance is to at least hit all of the Romney for President websites, then extend ourselves to the other past candidates such as Fred Thompson (whose supporters gathered around Romney quite well, expand our network to perhaps Guiliani's network, then to other significant backers of McCain. They need to have ownership in our vision also. Once we have this "grass roots" network, we can expand upward. But, first we need to build the foundation. However, I think your idea is brilliant once we have garnered the support of others who have run for president now supporting McCain. We need major media press releases and a massive marketing campaign in order for the McCain people to give us a significant look at us. Perhaps, Ann Coulter and other supporting conservative media can help us with this effort. Let's get our plan together first, then we can start driving web traffic in this direction.

Thank you Colette,
I have created a new blog in which David is coming up with a plan on how we are going to market this idea. Please go to the link under new blog on this page, or just click http://blogromneyforvp.unitethegop.com
to start seeing how you can help.

Collet, we all thank you for your willingness to make this commitment. I am preparing a strategic vision that will require everyones' input. The vision will take the form as if Mitt Romney were already the Vice President of the United States with John McCain and how we got him there. The idea is to make it as though it has already happened. Please look for it within the next day or so.

I will get going on the list posted on the webpage. I will also get my family to start contacting groups and will add a link for the webpage on my blog http://whatcolettehastosay.blogspot.com/
I am so excited to get going on this! I have great faith that we can make our hopes a reality.

With Romney as VP, he will have gained 4 more years of executive experience for the US government in a top position. He will also have enhanced military knowledge under McCain. He will also provide the conservative balance that this country needs.

I agree with all of the above. I have sent an email to the McCain people supporting Romney for VP. But emails are cheap. Money talks. I recommend that we offer to contribute, and in as serious amounts as we can within the legal limits, to the McCain campaign if Romney is the vice presidential pick.
Obama and Clinton have each outraised all of the Republican candidates. Unless McCain can get Republicans to open their checkbooks, the Republican ticket will not be able to get its message out in the critical weeks leading up to the general election. And unlike with certain other potential vice presidential nominees, Romney won't drive people away from the ticket.
A "fusion" ticket, like Kennedy-Johnson in 1960, Reagan - Bush in 1980, Clinton - Gore in 1992, and Gore-Lieberman in 2000 (600 Florida votes from a win) can be very powerful in a hotly contested general election. And even "Kerry-Edwards" would have won in 2004 had it not been for the courageous Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
A big part of McCain's problem is that he won over 50% of the vote in very few primaries; mostly places like New York where the Republican nominee has no chance of winning in November anyway. But if you add in Romney's numbers, the hypothetical McCain-Romney team had a majority of primary voters in almost EVERY state.
Unite the Base -- and Win the Race!

Hi Nathaniel,
Could you give me that McCain email address? I am not really good at researching on the web. I went to McCain's website the other day, but could not find where to post a comment.
And actually, I think an email would be better than a comment on his webpage.

Greetings everyone, I am pleased to announce that I am finished with a rough draft of the strategic vision along with other articles to think about at: http://blogromneyforvp.unitethegop.com/
I am interested in any and all comments.
Thank you.
