Conservative Republicans aren't happy with McCain as our choice

Since McCain has managed to secure the needed delegates, my proposal is this.......We spread the word to as many people as we can to still vote for Romney so the party knows Conservatives Republicans still just aren't happy with McCain.  In, this way McCain may have to change his stance on a few issues and adopt a more conservative (Romney) stance and pick Romney as VP in order to secure the nomination and run against the democrats.

First of all I would like to say thank you for creating this website.

About two weeks ago I was speaking to a working, middle class democrat. This person was expressing to me their dislike for Clinton and Obama and reasons why. They then told me that their intentions were to vote for John McCain. The reasons for voting for McCain were not anything profound, but it was the simplicity of them that made them so valid. My guess is that there are plenty of other working class democrats out there that share the same opinions. When I heard these things I felt an overwhelming confident knowledge that John McCain would be the next President of the United States. Not to say that I was totally happy about this revelation because I am definitely a Romney supporter.

This revelation brought up many questions; Obviously the first of them being, “Why McCain?” I am not deeply rooted in politics, but listen to my share of Ingram, Hannity and other conservative talk radio shows. I have been very alert during these past several months trying to stay apprised of what’s going on in the Presidential race. The only remotely positive outcome I could think of would be to have Romney as the VP. Myself, like I believe a lot of conservative republicans are very afraid that McCain could get into office and turn hard left. However, more than anything else, I think McCain wants to win this election. He is smart enough to know that with Romney’s conservative approval he would gain a great deal of support.

John McCain is not my ideal choice for President. But, with the influence of Mitt Romney as VP maybe McCain will get into office and turn a little more to the right than the left. Or at least stay his present course consulting the opinion of Mitt Romney before making big decisions along the way.

What Mitt Romney did in suspending his campaign is very noble, even patriotic. Just makes me want him to be the President that much more. Hopefully, John McCain will make the smart decision for himself and our country by nominating Romney as his VP. The best thing any of us conservative, evangelical republicans can do is pray for McCain, Romney, Obama, Clinton and the race as a whole. Also for God’s favor on this country. The United States has been on a destructive path for a long time. I hate to think how much worse it can and probably will get if either of the two democratic candidates get elected to office. Given our countries current path, how much longer will God continue to bless and protect us?

Therefore, we must get out there and make our voice heard. Tell the nation and world what we think instead of letting the liberal news media do it for us. I don’t mean to imply that we all need to stand out on street corners with megaphones shouting our opinions to passers by. But, at the very least, when the opportunity presents itself don’t be quiet. Don’t let someone else express their opinions without expressing yours.

    God Bless

Amen. Spread the word.  Let's get as many people as we can to realize that votes for Romney will still count!

I certainly hope the GOP nominates Romney because I will not vote for Juan McCain and will change parties.

I think McCain is a weasal, but I also think he will do anything to win including adopting some of Romney's stances and picking Romney to secure the vote! With Romney in there we have a good chance to get some values on the table.

I would NOT vote for John MexiCsin if my life depended on it. Not only did he turn on the American people in his amnesty bill, but he has stabbed his own party in the back at every chance possible. He is a self-serving arrogant turncoat, despite his so-called heroic status in the eyes of the media.
I have voted conservative and thus Republican for 30+ years. Obviously, the Republican Party did not learn anything in the 2006 elections.
If McCain is the best they can come up with, to hell with them. I will never vote for McCain, no matter his opponent or his running mate.

I agree McCain is a rat. He'll do anything to win though including (I think Romney wouldn't be the running mate unless he agreed to meet him somewhere in the middle) That might be at least something.

    Hey Keoni,
I know how you feel, believe me!! Illegal immigration was my top priority going into the race. I sent email after email and fax after fax to stop that "stab in the back" piece of legislature that McCain buddied up with Kennedy to produce.
So you can well imagine how much I DON'T want to vote for McCain. However, I don't think you realize just how liberal Obama and Hillary are. Both of them have horrible voting records on immigration, horrible!! And Obama's voting record is worse than Hillary's. Not to mention they would both pull out of Iraq, right when the war effort is at it's most successful period!!
Higher taxes, loss of face in the eyes of the world over not finishing in Iraq, and a worse policy toward immigrants than McCain.
Please reconsider if McCain picks Romney. At least it will show that he cares what the conservatives in the party think, and he is willing to work toward uniting the party.
Also, I agree with unite that McCain will have to give some concessions for Romney to agree. Romney would make these next 4 years much more bearable than a Democrat win.

    Rebecca,

Thank you for your rational and sensible words of reason for Keoni. Even though I also share some of Keoni's feelings this is a race where conservative need to put aside our emotions and do what needs to be done. Continue to vote for Romney in the primaries so that we will hopefully end up with a McCain/Romney GOP ticket.

    God Bless

    Hi Dustin,

Thank you for your kind words. I see you are a strong Romney supporter. Without Romney on the ticket, I don't know if I can vote for McCain. That's why it is so important to get Romney on the ticket.

I am so proud of all of you who are continuing to vote for him in the primaries. Without him I do not think the Republican candidate can win. And Hillary and Obama are so liberal that they scare me.

    Let's all continue to pray.
